Miss Haiti Raquel Pelissier was among the remaining three contestants and, though she was the runner up, ultimately it was Miss France paying out 9-1 odds as the new Miss Universe.

Miss Colombia would was the favorite and would have paid out $350 for every $100 bet.

Miss Haiti brought tears to the eyes of host Steve Harvey when asked in the final round what she had failed out and her response focused on the Haitian earthquake from seven years ago.
