It’s that time again to place a bet on the 2012 Oscars.  There are plenty of categories this year (i.e. Best Actor, Best Actress) that offer competitive odds at online gambling websites the likes of WagerWeb.com

It is fitting that once again this year Gambling911.com is among the leading resources when it comes to news covering Oscar betting.

Gambling911.com founder Chris Costigan’s family has its roots in Oscars glory.

Fred Niblo, one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, married into the Costigan family.

The second film to ever win an Oscar, “The Broadway Melody”, starred the Gambling911.com founder’s great uncle, Charles King.

In 1942, James Cagney portrayed another of Costigan’s great uncles, George M. Cohan in “Yankee Doodle Dandy”.

The film won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (James Cagney), Best Music, Scoring of a Musical Picture and Best Sound, Recording (Nathan Levinson).  The film was nominated in a number of other categories.   “Yankee Doodle Dandy” was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.

George M. Cohan, after all, was considered one of the greatest American patriots of all time, so much so that President Woodrow Wilson christened a war ship in his honor, naming it “The Costigan

With that, Gambling911.com continues the rich tradition of promoting the Oscars in a way that only became possible during the past decade, by allowing individuals to actual bet on the event.
