Melissa Leo Best Supporting Acress Odds

The 2011 Oscars odds for “Best Supporting Actress” remained among the most competitive categories even though oddsmakers at SBG Global have instilled Melissa Leo (The Fighter) as the 1/5 favorite.

“Compared to say Colin Firth as ‘Best Actor’ for The President’s Speech with odds of -10000, I’d say the ‘Best Supporting Actress’ odds do have some value,” quipped Payton O’Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.

The latest 2011 Oscars “Best Supporting Actress” oddsappear below:

Melissa Leo (The Fighter)

-500

Helena Bonham Carter (The Kings Speech)

+550

Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit)

+250

Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom)

+3000

Amy Adams (The Fighter)

Nicole Sperling of the LA Times noted that Leo may blundered a bit.

If Melissa Leo doesn't win best supporting actress on Sunday night, her loss will be blamed squarely on the ads she took out asking voters to "Consider Melissa."

Sperling notes that Leo donned fur in the ads that appeared in some noteworthy industry magazines and that industry insiders considered them “rather tacky”.
