Elliott Rodriguez Will Payout Close to $200 for Every $100 Bet as Maria Elvira Salazar Favored in Florida 27

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (Gambling911.com) - Long time South Florida news anchor Elliott Rodriguez is running as a Democrat in the Florida's 27th Congressional District race.  His opponent is Republican Maria Elvira Salazar.  Rodriguez pays $175 for every $100 bet.  Salazar is the -215 favorite here with a 68% chance of winning.

While the oddsmakers at BetOnline have Salazar winning, the most recent poll averages suggest a dead heat with Salazar at 45.8% and Rodriguez at 45.5%.

Recent Individual Polls

PollsterDatesSalazarRodriguezMargin
Tulchin Research (D)Sept. 8–1347%46%R +1
Bendixen & Amandi (D)Aug. 25–3045%45%Tie
Blueprint PollingMarch 6–846%43%R +3

All three surveys polled likely voters. The two most recent were Democratic-sponsored polls, so their sponsorship is important when interpreting the numbers.

On September 25, the Cook Political Report shifted the race from Likely Republican to Lean Republican.

The district includes portions of Miami, consisting of a population near 50,000, and surrounding communities, including Coral Gables, South Miami, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay, Key Biscayne and West Miami. It also includes Little Havana and several unincorporated neighborhoods. The 2026 redistricting made relatively minor changes to its boundaries.

Salazar won reelection in 2024 by approximately 21 percentage points, while Donald Trump carried the district by roughly 15 points.

Rodriguez worked for CBS Miami television news as an anchor with nearly 50 years in journalism

The important qualification is that there is limited independent public polling. The close surveys establish what those particular samples found, but don't establish a definitive districtwide shift.
