Both the Yankees and Red Sox are struggling of late. In fact, the whole American League East is playing lackluster baseball. Tampa, which got off to a slow start, may be the better team in this division and they are hardly going gangbusters.
Boston was a bright spot all season long but they've given up 49 runs in their six games out of the break.
Yankees starter Nestor Cortes is 4-9 with a 3.99 ERA for the Yankees this season. On the road, Cortes has gone 0-5 with a 6.04 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP while allowing opposing hitters a .352 on-base percentage in his 10 starts.
Rob Refsnyder has gone 6 for 13 against him but without a home run or RBI.
Brayan Bello is 10-5 but with a 5.27 ERA for Boston.
Bello struck out seven while allowing three runs over six innings against the Dodgers on Saturday in a no-decision. He had a victory before that against the Royals.

Los Angeles Dodgers career statistics vs. Framber Valdez are just .211 in 78 at bats with six home runs though. Two of those came courtesy of Enrique Hernandez, who is .just .204 on the season with 6 home runs total.
Valdez was charged with two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Mariners.
Gavin Stone allowed a run over five innings with no decision Friday against the Red Sox. He does not have a win in his last three starts.
There have not been more than 7 runs scored total in three of the last four games he's started in.
Two of the last three games (played last season) resulted in double digit runs.
Mariners @ White Sox
Seattle is 7-3 versus Chicago and the White Sox have not won in their last 11 games.
George Kirby struck out six and allowed one run over six innings on Saturday in a no-decision against the Astros, so you just know he's hungry for victory in this one. You can actually get Seattle around -170 still.
The White Sox will have a strong starter on the mound with Drew Thorpe but Seattle has the better pitching overall. Seattle is first in four major pitching categories while the White Sox are last in four major pitching categories.
