Storms are expected to linger from the AM hours right up until Midnight.  This is a late game starting at 7 pm ET.

Probable Pitchers

J. Assad - CHC
(4-0, 1.70)

S. Gray - STL
(6-2, 2.87)

Javier Assad is 4-0 for the Cubs with a 1.70 ERA.

Assad yielded three runs — two earned — in 4 2/3 innings Tuesday against the Braves in his last start, a no-decision.

Before that he pitched six scoreless innings in the Cubs’ 7-1 victory in Atlanta. He struck out seven, allowed four hits, and just one walk earning the win.

In 38 at bats, the Cardinals have only hit 7 times with 2 RBIs against Assad (.184).

Sonny Gray, another stellar starter, will take to the mound for St. Louis.

Sonny Gray allowed one earned run, struck out six in 5 2/3 innings, picked up the win in his last start.

He won despite giving up five runs in six innings Tuesday against the Angels.

Gray has allowed 18 hits in 67 at bats versus Cubs hitters with 12 RBIs.

St. Louis has won the last two in this series.
