Connecticut

A bill to allow sports betting and permit the largest gambling expansion in Connecticut history cleared the Connecticut Senate late Tuesday.  It now heads to the Governor's desk for signing. Gov. Ned Lamont has already indicated that he will sign the bill.  He has been instrumental in getting the process completed in fact.  Mobile wagering will be available throughout the state.

A major handicap to this legislation is that those in Connecticut will be unable to place bets on UConn Huskies games during the NCAA College Basketball season whereby both the Men's and Women's teams have excelled of late.

Florida

The Seminole Tribe would be able to operate sports betting and add roulette and craps to its casinos and Florida would potentially receive $20 billion over the next 30 years, under legislation signed by the governor Tuesday.  Statewide mobile sports betting still faces an uphill battle as this will likely be viewed as gambling expansion requiring voter approval per a recently passed referendum despite the servers being located on the Seminole reservation.  Even if sports wagering should pass that hurdle, proponents have made it clear they will file a lawsuit.
