Producer Mike Richards Will be stepping down from his very brief tenure as host of “Jeopardy!”

This comes after a report about past misogynistic comments surfaced this week and following a drumbeat of criticism about his selection and how it was made.

It remains to be seen how bookmakers will address this matter as many were offering odds on who would replace the late great Alex Trebek.  BetOnline was among those featuring "Jeopardy!" next host odds.

The Ringer revealed demeaning comments Richards made about women, the homeless and others.

“Over the last several days it has become clear that moving forward as host would be too much of a distraction for our fans and not the right move for the show,” Richards said in a note to the “Jeopardy!” staff on Friday. “As such, I will be stepping down as host effective immediately. As a result, we will be canceling production today.”

Richards said a search for a new host will begin again, with guest hosts returning to continue production for the new season, he said in the note.
