Ohio came close to legalizing in-state sportsbooks in 2019 and could still do so.  The state is currently at an impasse in determining which regulatory body will oversee sports betting in the state.

Gov. Mike DeWine wants the Casino Control Commission (CCC) to do so.

Ohio Rep. Dave Greenspan says that is not an option, however.

In an interview with LegalSportsReport, he noted that sports betting is not considered a casino game that would fall under the CCC’s purview.

“I was surprised by the governor’s comments, but we believe our position is the correct position and, as we continue to promote the bill and explain the opinion, we are confident that we will convince him and others why the provisions in the House bill are the correct provisions,” Greenspan said.

Regardless of if and when in-state sportsbooks start cropping up, there will always be a place for the regional bookie.  Licensed regulated sportsbooks will not provide anonymity or a line of credit.

RealBookies has over 20 years in the PPH sports betting business and located in Costa Rica, Real Bookie Price Per Head bookmaking software service  is the leading choice for local PPH bookies, professional credit bookmakers and sports betting agents worldwide.
