The Colts-Ravens preseason game betting odds for Monday night had Baltimore as a -2 favorite on the road.

John Harbaugh and the Ravens have won ten consecutive preseason games.  Yes that is correct, in games that don’t matter, this is the Super bowl favorite, the heavyweight champ, and the rock star all in one.  Here’s another odd stat for you:  the Ravens out-produced the Rams in their preseason opener 403 yards to only 170.  I know, I know, the Rams rested their difference makers, but still, the Colts aren’t the Rams.   Baltimore is a single point favorite in this game.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts, in general are not a deep team loaded with stars.  On that note, Marlon Mack, the projected starting running back, is already listed as out for this contest.  Although he played well enough to secure a win, I don’t expect Andrew Luck to be firing on all cylinders just yet.  I think he still has plenty of jitters and a bit of rust to shake before being deemed “back to usual”.  I don’t think he’s quite ready to lead an offense by himself, something he has done on occasion in the past, but no need to push the pedal to the floor in a game that simply doesn’t matter.  The side of the ball that typically doesn’t get too much coverage for the Colts, the defensive side of the ball, has performed above any expectations placed on them, posting the number one defense thus far.  Granted it was one game’s worth of production and against a Seahawks team that has little to prove on offense.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are just a 1.5 point favorite and I’ll take that all day. The defensive unit has looked great, posting the third best numbers of any squad this preseason, something to note considering they’ve got the hall of fame game against the bears under their belt also so we have more tape on them than nearly any other team. The offensive unit is not going to blow anyone away, but they complement their defensive squad nicely, leading the charge with ball security, time of possession, and a top 10 rushing attack. They are more balanced and have better players, both are key indicators that they will be in the winner’s circle when the clock ticks zero.

Some things to watch for in this game though, are continued progression and production from Andrew Luck.  After such a long time away, every hit, every pass and every drop back will be criticized.  I’m also intrigued to see where and how Eric Ebron is utilized.

Pick and Prediction

The Colts acquired the big play capable tight end in the offseason and he is one of the more versatile players on their offense.  On the other sideline, I am most excited to see the play from rookie quarterback, Lamar Jackson.  He has been anxious at times, but his athleticism cannot be understated. Either way, this one will have enough for everyone to keep them entertained! Take the Ravens, as the more experienced, better prepared team. Baltimore -1.
