Week 7 has already kicked off and it’s hard to believe how fast this season is flying by. Before we know it, January will roll around and there will be a new National Champion.

There are certainly some great teams again this season and Alabama is cruising yet again. They look like the team to beat and Nick Saban has the boys playing superior football. Can they be beat? Maybe, but it’s a longshot to say the least. Notre Dame looks to be rolling as well, what they are doing on a weekly basis is blowing their opponents out but is there value in one team blowing a bunch of nobody’s out? Now is the perfect time to jump on a great college football bonus. We are in the middle od the season and going through a lull. The online bookies need your business and will do anything to get it. Find a great offer and make your move.

There is big value in what Notre Dame has done this year. They have not had a “nobody” schedule. They opened up against Michigan and got the win by a 24-17 margin, Ball State 24-16 (the one nobody), Vanderbilt 22-17 (little better than a nobody), but then the schedule picked up as they beat Wake Forest 56-27 in Wake, Stanford 38-17, and VaTech in VaTech, 45-23. That was a statement win, it was a huge game and a breakout game on the ground. Notre Dame is rolling and they can challenge an Alabama, LSU, Auburn, or Clemson.

This week, Notre Dame welcomes in Pittsburg, a team that has struggled to find an identity and a team that seems to be in perpetual rebuilding mode.

The Pittsburgh Panthers are allowing 32.8 ppg against a Notre dame defense thats giving up 19. The Irish are scoring 34 ppg to Pittsburgh’s 26. When looking at what Pittsburgh scores, it seems middle of the road-not terrible, however, when you consider the opponents they have beaten such as Syracuse, Georgia Tech and Albany, the 26 points becomes a tougher sell. When you look at who they have lost to, that really becomes a tough sell. The Panthers lost to Penn State 51-6, UNC 38-35, and UCF 45-14. Now, give them some credit where credit is due, they did beat a much improved Syracuse by a score of 44-37, but the Achilles heel for Syracuse has been defense. They give up a lot of points and they let this one get away from them. Look for Notre Dame to crush Pittsburg this week, this game will never really be close.

Number six in the country, West Virginia. This group of players has grown enormously since last season and they are beating the brakes off of everybody. The Mountaineers hit the road against Iowa State and what’s hard to understand in this one, is the idea that Vegas doesn’t get it. West Virginia is laying -6.5 against an unranked Iowa State?

The skinny on West Virginia vs Iowa State:

Iowa State is an odd football team, they come into this affair with a 2-3 record on the season having just beaten the 25th ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, by a score of 48-42, the previous week they were beaten by unranked TCU, 17-14, they lost to Oklahoma at home by a final of 37-27 and lost to their rivals Iowa, by final of 13-3. Iowa is also unranked. What this football team tends to do is run with the big dogs. When there is a barnburner going on, they want in and they compete.

This is where West Virginia must be very careful. Will Grier is a gunslinger an absolute 6 gun toting gunslinger with 1, 819 yards passing on the season. That’s not the big number, the big number is his completion percentage at 71.2%, his yards per attempt—10.28, season long—82—TD’s 21, Int’s 6 along with a passer rating of 189.9. These are eye popping numbers and he plays in the Big 12. Will Grier will win the Heisman Trophy this season. This guy is a Rockstar!

Last Season the Mountaineers outdueled #14, Iowa State, to a 20-16 final in a surprisingly low scoring game. This year just might be more of a high scoring game than last and Iowa State had better hope for that. Last season, West Virginia hit the skids towards the last of the season and any talk of Grier and a Heisman run quickly fell off, not this year, it won’t happen. This team has found a balance and they are giving up 18.6 ppg. Look for the Mountaineers to clamp down and once again whip Iowa State into submission.
