Will the FanDuel Sports Betting App Be Available to Those in These States?

Probably not any time in 2019 in Missouri.  Missouri has not pushed forward with attempts to legalize sports wagering.

Arkansas should have sportsbooks operating in 2019 but limited to four locations and it is not immediately clear whether apps will be available.

From ESPN: On Nov. 6, 2018, Arkansas voters approved 'Issue 4,' a constitutional amendment that will bring expanded gambling -- including sports betting -- to four counties in the state. Under the ballot measure, "accepting wagers on sporting events" was specifically included under the definition of permissible casino gaming. The Arkansas Racing Commission will oversee licensing at the four locations, a process that could take weeks or months.

As for Louisiana, the state stands a chance at legalizing sports betting in 2019 as lawmakers are currently considering measures that would not involve mobile sports betting.

Disadvantages to Using the FanDuel Sports Betting App

Even as a resident of another state, you can still place real money bets on the FanDuel app, but only when visiting New Jersey.  This is the only state that currently offers the app for real money betting.

It should be noted that residents of these states regularly travel to New Jersey with flights to and from New Orleans, St. Louis, Kansas City and even Bentonville, Arkansas.

The Fanduel sports betting app went live in New Jersey during the last days of August.  It is only available in this state currently. Folks who wish to open a betting account may do so from outside the state but will be unable to bet until they are within New Jersey's borders, this includes Newark International Airport.

Those using the FanDuel app may be subject to tax.  Offshore sportsbooks do not send tax forms to government agencies.

Another disadvantage is the limited device compatibility.  The Fanduel sports betting app is for Android and IOS.

While those 18 or older can play with offshore sportsbooks, FanDuel and its New Jersey-based counterparts require users to be at least 21 in order to place a bet.
