About This Series

Oakland has won eight of the last nine meetings heading into Saturday June 8, but be careful as the Rangers have been playing quite well of late.

Recent Performance

Texas is 32-28 having won seven of their last ten.  Oakland sits at the .500 mark.  They have only won four of their last ten.  Oakland has allowed five or more runs in six of their last ten games.  Texas has scored five or more runs in six of their last ten.  They have permitted no more than four runs in seven of their last nine.

Saturday June 8 Odds

The line on this game has moved from Oakland -108 to -117.

The total has moved from 11 to 11.5.

Saturday June 8 Starting Pitcher Matchup

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Chris Bassitt (3-1, 3.42 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Adrian Sampson (4-3, 4.14)

Bassitt is coming off a no-decision against Houston on Sunday in which he gave up three runs and six hits over six innings. The 30-year-old native of Ohio has won each of his last two decisions, one in which he yielded five runs over five frames and another in which he scattered four hits over eight scoreless innings. Bassitt is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA in two starts and two relief appearances - the victory coming on April 22, when he allowed two hits and issued four walks over five frames in his season debut.

Sampson lost his first seven decisions in the major leagues, including three this season, but has won each of his last four appearances. The 27-year-old from Washington state has allowed one earned run in three of the triumphs, including a start against Kansas City on Sunday in which he permitted eight hits while registering 11 strikeouts over seven innings - the latter two being career highs. Sampson has given up 10 runs and 13 hits over 7 1/3 frames versus Oakland in three career games, including one start and one relief appearance this year.

One of our most daring picks of the season, we see Sampson coming completely unraveled here and a high scoring affair going right OVER the 11.5.  More importantly, the brunt of the action was on the UNDER and books were encouraging more money on the UNDER with the total moving up.

Friday June 7 Odds

Texas is at -109, Oakland is at +101 on average.  The total was 10, down from 10.5.

Friday June 7 Starting Pitcher Matchup

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics LH Brett Anderson (6-4, 3.95 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Lance Lynn (7-4, 4.50)

Anderson is expected to make his scheduled start after leaving his outing against Houston on Saturday with an oblique issue. The 31-year-old native of Midland, Texas took the loss in that contest after yielding three runs and six hits over 5 1/3 innings. Anderson is 3-4 with a 4.82 ERA in 14 career games (11 starts) versus the Rangers, including a no-decision at Texas on April 14 in which he allowed three runs on two hits and a pair of walks over six frames.

Lynn will attempt to redeem himself after being battered for eight runs and nine hits in 3 1/3 innings of a loss at Oakland on April 23. It was the first career appearance against the Athletics by the 32-year-old from Indiana, who has won three of his last four overall turns and four straight at home. The most recent victory came against Kansas City on Saturday, when Lynn gave up two runs and six hits over 6 1/3 frames.

Friday June 7 Outcome

Marcus Semien hit his second homer of the game in the ninth inning, a two-run, tiebreaking shot that lifted the Oakland Athletics over the Texas Rangers 5-3 on Friday night.

Semien drove a 3-2 pitch from Jose Leclerc (1-2) just beyond the right field wall after Jurickson Profar sliced a double inches fair down the left field line.
