Reigning Super Bowl Champs

The Bucs have the second shortest odds of winning Super Bowl 56.  Only the team they beat, the Kansas City Chiefs, have better odds.  Tampa pays $600 for every $100 bet to win the 2022 Super Bowl.

There is good reason to believe they can repeat.  After all, the Bucs are the first Super Bowl winners to return 22 starters since the ’77 Raiders.

Tom Brady isn't getting any younger but he's also showing no sign of slowing down either.

Then there's the whole NFC South picture.

Tampa Bay is the -225 favorite to win the NFC South for good reason.  New Orleans lost Drew Brees, Carolina is rebuilding and Atlanta is....well...in transition.

Early PreSeason Woes

Tampa Bay is evaluating players looking to win roster spots.  The preseason game against Tennessee resulting in a 34-3 loss demonstrated that most are not yet ready for primetime.

“Too many dropped passes to start ball games – that kills drives,” head coach Bruce Arians said. “Defensively, I thought we had a really good start to the game in the trenches and then as the reserves started coming in we misfit a couple runs. Overall, you grade the tape. You either get exposed or exposure. Some guys really stepped up. Pat O’Connor showed, Grant [Stuard] showed a little bit, Dee Delaney showed a little bit. Not too many guys offensively. Cyril [Grayson] showed up a little bit having been hurt all week with an injury. We’ll grade the tape and see who really played on special teams.”
