We were a bit surprised to see the line for Pittsburgh under -150 here and that is great news for gamblers.
It’s the Brewers right-hander Jimmy Nelson (2-4) vs. Pirates right-hander AJ Burnett (6-1)
The Series: Two of three games in Pittsburgh and on the road in Milwaukee have gone OVER 7 while 3 of 4 games played in Pittsburgh last year also went OVER. The OVER definitely has an edge where the series played in Pittsburgh is concerned. The Pirates are 5-1 against the Brewers so far this season.
Recent Games: The Brewers have been up and down in both overall games and those played on the road leading to no particular edge. Likewise there is no edge for Pittsburgh when it comes to the total. The Pirates have been winning a lot of games. The Brewers have not been. Pittsburgh has an edge in this series though the prices will likely be high.
Seven of ten games Nelson has started in have totaled eight or higher. He has allowed four or more runs in four of his last six games.
While Burnett has pitched well, he allowed 5 and 4 runs, respectively, in his last two starts. Five of his last six have gone OVER 8. The last two times he faced Milwaukee, Burnett allowed 2 and 4 runs, respectively.
We like the OVER 7.5 and Pittsburgh at -145 at BetOnline.
Padres right hander Ian Kennedy (3-5, 6.60) vs. Braves right-hander Shelby Miller (5-2, 1.89)
Kennedy has been inconsistent this season. He is coming off a solid performance in which he gave up just two runs on six hits in six innings but that one followed a disastrous performance against Pittsburgh in which he gave up three homeruns. Seven of the last eight games he has started have totaled nine or more.
Miller has lost his last two starts so we anticipate a strong outing here against a team he held last season to 2 and 4 runs, respectively.
We will be taking Atlanta at -135 today.
