Norfolk, Massachusetts Republican Rep. Dan Winslow is looking to create three Massachusetts licenses for intrastate internet poker.

Winslow wants to make his colleagues in the House aware of options to generate additional state revenues in the state, according to the Boston Herald.  He hopes to have his measure passed in the House and Senate in the coming months.

From the Boston Herald:

Under his plan (amendment 827), each license would require a minimum $10 million fee and there would be a 25 percent tax on gross gaming proceeds.

A recent federal Department of Justice advisory opinion suggested intrastate Internet gaming is permissible and several other states are moving to authorize it. "Internet poker is a game of skill that fits our high tech job profile perfectly,” Winslow said in a statement.

"We can create new, high paying tech jobs by leading the launch of this new industry in the United States."
