An individual has been arrested for the 1989 brutal murder of a bookie and it turns out the suspect was the son of a prominent anti-gambling activist.
58-year-old Terry Hickson, son of the late Jim Hickson, has been arrested near Wollongong, Australia over the murder of bookie Charles Skarratt just three days prior to Christmas. He was bound and gagged then stabbed to death inside his Sydney, Australia garage.
The suspect’s dad was a reformed gambler who founded the Gambler’s Help Line in 1995.
The prosecution believes Skarratt was killed for “financial gain” and Chief Inspector Chris Olen noted that others could have assisted with the murder.
Hickson’s next court appearance will be on December 14.
