Frank Sivero has filed a lawsuit against the long running primetime animated series "The Simpsons" claiming they based the character Louie off of his "Goodfellas" character.

The suit claims that it was Sivero who created the Louie character and, as such, he should be fully compensated.

The actor claims he lived next store to the series writers in 1989 at the time he was preparing the character of Frank Carbone in “Goodfellas”. To date, Louie has appeared in 16 episodes of “The Simpsons” since 1991. The curly black-haired cartoon character, voiced by Dan Castellenata, is partner to "Legs".

"They knew he was developing the character he was to play in the movie Goodfellas, a movie Sivero did in 1989. In fact, they were aware the entire character of 'Frankie Carbone' was created and developed by Sivero, who based this character on his own personality," the complaint says.

“The Simpsons” was created by Sam Simon, a fixture on the poker scene.  Simon was diagnosed with terminal cancer two years ago and has pledged to spend his fortune on causes he advocates such as animal wellfare.
