Iowa vs. Georgia Tech Orange Bowl odds were now available at SBG Global as were all College Bowl game odds.  There, Georgia Tech was being listed as the -3 ½ favorite to beat Iowa on January 5.

Iowa vs. Georgia Tech will be a matchup of the Hawkeyes' 11th-ranked defense against the Yellow Jackets' 11th-ranked offense. Iowa and Georgia Tech have never met.

Two years into his rebuilding job at Georgia Tech, Paul Johnson has the Yellow Jackets exactly where he had hoped.

Atlantic Coast Conference champions and headed to a BCS bowl for the first time.

Georgia Tech won the program's first outright conference championship since 1990.

Jonathan Dwyer's 15-yard touchdown run with 1:20 remaining capped a long winning drive and gave the Yellow Jackets (No. 10 BCS, No. 12 AP) a 39-34 victory over Clemson (No. 25 AP) in Saturday night's ACC championship game.

"When we took the job, this is the reason we took it -- to have a chance to compete and go to BCS bowl games," said Johnson, who won two Division I-AA national titles at Georgia Southern and also had a successful stint at Navy before taking over at Tech.

Meanwhile, the Hawkeyes opened the season 9-0, reaching No. 8 in the nation at one point, but didn't do so in dominating fashion. Iowa needed fourth-quarter rallies in four of those first nine games, including digging out of a 10-point hole to escape with a win over Indiana.

But Iowa did climb to No. 4 in the BCS rankings at one time, thanks largely to road wins over Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State.

Back-to-back losses to Northwestern and Ohio State doomed Iowa's Rose Bowl shot -- maybe even a national title shot -- but the Hawkeyes closed with a 12-0 win over Minnesota.

"We're thrilled to be returning to Miami," Ferentz said. "And also, we realize it's going to be a great, great challenge."

Very early action on this game had Georgia Tech getting just shy of 80 percent backing.
