LAS VEGAS (AP) - Casino operator MGM Resorts International is planning to announce its second-quarter results, earnings for a period when the company changed its name and began shifting its strategy.

MGM Resorts reports its earnings before the market opens Tuesday.

Investors are looking for results from Las Vegas, Macau and other gambling markets for the period ending June 30. They also will want to hear about MGM Resorts' efforts in pursuing an initial public offering in Hong Kong. The Las Vegas-based company is planning for growth in China and elsewhere.

That's why shareholders voted in June to change the company's corporate name immediately from MGM Mirage to MGM Resorts International. Executives say the new name better shows the company's scope.
