Titans Save the Books for a Second Straight Week: They Were a Big G911 Play

For the second straight week it was the Tennessee Titans that came through big for the books, helping them to recover last weekend's record losses.

You will recall last week, we reported on the books having their worst weekend in decades (for those in existence that long). 

The Titans came through Monday night to help them recover slightly with a win over the Cowboys.

Books Had Strong Opinion on Patriots

With all the betting action on New England in Week 10, books were encouraging more of it but moving the line down (against the actual action).  88% of the action at one point was on the Pats to cover the spread.

This one, we wrote, was akin to taking candy from a baby. 

ESPN.com made an interesting observation ahead of this game: "Tennessee's offense has faced the toughest schedule of defenses this year, and that in part accounts for some of its offensive struggles. The Titans haven't faced a single defense that ranks in the bottom half of the league since Week 1. They have also faced the NFL's most difficult schedule of run defenses. The Patriots run defense is eighth best in the league, but their pass defense ranks just 18th despite facing the sixth-easiest schedule of pass offenses."

The average bettor considered two things:

1. The Titans were facing the mighty Patriots, which for many disqualifies Tennessee from winning.

2. The Titans were facing New England on a much shorter work week, having played Monday night.

The books needed Tennessee again badyly and got them with an outright win.  It also helped that Cleveland beat Atlanta.  The books did not win with New Orleans dismantling the Bengals, 51-14.

The Titans are now 5-4 in the AFC South and very much in the thick of things, a game behind Houston.  They still had favorable payout odds in the AFC South.
