Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard commented on his team's 35-win season, referencing the early season wins total futures odds.

Joe Brennan, an industry analyst, pointed out that there was a time when the NBA frowned upon any mention of sports betting.

"The quote from the Wizards’ GM probably would have earned him a lifetime ban before May 2018."

That May 2018 is in reference to the Supreme Court lifting state bans on sports betting.

The quote from Sheppard: "I think Vegas preseason said we were going to win 35 games;  We won 35 games.  That's disgusting to me.  I think internally we had much higher goals, but you can't argue with your record.  It is what it is.  We've got to do better."

Beal Says He Understands Gambler's Frustration

Wizards Bradley Beal finally spoke up about an altercation between him and a sports bettor that took place in Orlando one month ago.

An individual allegedly shouted out to Beal: "You made me lose $1,300, you f***.”

Beal turned around and swatted the man's hat off his head.  Beal got into a heated argument with that individual and his friend.

A police report was filed the next day after one of the men told police he wanted to file charges against Beal.  The bet in question was never specifically detailed.

"Nobody wants to lose money. I get it. If you keep it about sports, I'm all for it," Beal said, via ESPN. "But I think it's when people start getting personal, talking about your family, talking about your character, your integrity towards the game. I think all of that, we can save it. We can really keep those comments to ourselves.

"I understand. I go to casinos, I gamble, I understand that. But I also understand it's probably a 99% chance I'm going to lose," Beal said Monday. "I'm not sitting here about to get angry at the dealer or angry at everybody else."

Security footage failed to pick up the incident.

The NBA issued a statement shortly after the police report was filed saying, "We are aware of the report and in the process of gathering more information."

In Case You Missed It.....PointsBet Issues Statement re: Voided Bets on Tyus Jones to Record a Double-Double

There has been more controversy surrounding gambling and the NBA beyond just the Bradly Beal incident.

Last week, PointsBet voided a wager on the Memphis Grizzlies Tyrus Jones recording a double-double during a game against the New Orleans Pelicans.

“At PointsBet, our NBA double-double market requires three inputs to calculate: a player’s points line, their expected rebounds, and their expected assists. On this occasion, an error resulted in this double-double being priced using only Jones’ points and rebounds line. Tyus Jones’ assists line (7) did not feed into the double-double calculation, generating an incorrect price of +1600 for a selection that was generally available around +350 across the industry. To further illustrate the context of this error, we can share that Tyus Jones’ double-double price with PointsBet was +200 against Orlando on March 28th and +300 against the Mavericks on March 20th. The incorrect price remained on site for nine minutes before being removed. Additionally, PointsBet removed all double-double and triple-double markets from the NBA offering on Thursday evening in order to update the data query.”

One gambler offered this response:

"So they made a mistake. I made a mistake on my $5000 wager on Sandy Lyle to win the masters. Can I get refunded?"
