With news that a push to legalize mobile sports in North Carolina had officially failed on July 2, Tar Heel State residents need not fear. Sites such as NitroBetting, operating offshore, now allow individuals to place bets by simply providing their emails, nothing more (anonymous betting).

By Friday it had become obvious that there would be no mobile sports betting bill passed this year in North Carolina. The state does regulate in-person sports betting at three area casinos, one of which is set to open a half hour away from Charlotte in the coming weeks. The measure, if passed, would have permitted in-state companies to operate sports wagering apps.
While the legislative session had been extended to Friday, two days were needed for voting in the House and Senate. That process had not even begun heading into Friday's final session of the year.
Senate Bill 38 passed the House by a single vote last week and failed in the Senate by a single vote.
In an effort to appease some lawmakers, the House bill was amended to raise the tax collected by the state from 8% to 14%. Many lawmakers still expressed concern over gambling addition in the state. Opponents also cited the potential unconstitutionality of the bill as written.
