NJ Gambling Numbers Up 10% in August Over Last Year, Still Down From 2019

New Jersey’s land-based and online casinos and sports betting, as well as horse tracks ofering sports betting, won $470.6 million from gamblers in August.  That number represents a 10% increase from this same period last year.

The amount of money won from in-person gamblers at casinos was nearly $274 million, up 4.4% from a year earlier.

The 2022 numbers still lag behind the level of August 2019 when the total was more than $286 million, an indication that retail casinos have not yet recovered from the Covid-19 global pandemic.
