Famed sports handicapper Wayne Root, now also a television host, interviewed former President Donald Trump on his TV show Monday night.

And at one point during the interview, at the request of Gambling 911, they talked about how bettors are wagering on the outcome of the upcoming presidential election!

Root hosts a nightly politically-themed TV show called “The Root Reaction” on the Real America’s Voice streaming network (Americasvoice.news).

On Monday’s show, which is based in Las Vegas, the guest was Trump, phoning in to the show from his home in Florida.

After obligatory chatter with the ex-president about the economy, jobs, the stock market, abortion, crime, Israel and other subjects, Root returned to his, uh, roots.

“At the sportsbooks around the world, and you know my background is sports betting, you’re favored to win the election at almost every sportsbook in the world,” Root told Trump.

Trump agreed, sounding aware that betting was occurring on the upcoming presidential election and also sounding aware that he was currently favored by many oddsmakers to beat incumbent president Joe Biden in their rematch in November.

Root then continued: “I believe you are a prohibitive favorite because you’re winning the swing states big.”

(Gambling 911 sponsor BetOnline.com, which offers wagering on the election, currently lists the race as pick ‘em, or an even money bet.)

Made aware in advance that Trump would be a guest on Root’s  program, Gambling 911 asked Root to discuss presidential election betting with the former president, and Root obliged.

After the show, in an exclusive interview, Root talked to Gambling 911 about what it was like interviewing the former president.

“This was my 15th interview on TV or radio with President Trump,” Root said.

“We’ve developed quite a friendship.

“It’s always an honor each and every time this SOB, son of a butcher, is blessed to interview the greatest president of my lifetime.

“Only in America.”

Root then told Gambling 911 why he thinks sportsbooks—when it comes to presidential predictions—are more accurate than polls.

“I’m always interested in betting sites and sportsbook odds based on betting patterns,” Root said.

“Bettors who risk their own money are much smarter and more accurate than pollsters.”

Root made a boatload of cash betting on Trump to win the 2016 election, so Gambling 911 asked him if he would be wagering on Trump again this year.

“I’ll decide that as we get closer to the election and I see who the Democrat nominee is,” he said.

“I am very uncertain Biden will be the nominee. My gut says he will be replaced at the convention in August.

“He is the worst president in history. The country is a mess.

“He is terribly unpopular. I don’t believe the Democrats will stick with him.”
