The West Virginia Mountaineers were getting plenty of love from gamblers, well sort of.  BetRivers had the West Virginia UNDER 6 as the top Big 12 total wins future wager.  Other books had the Mountaineers total set at 5.5.

In other words, gamblers at least see West Virginia having another losing season.

The schedule speaks volumes.  West Virginia opens in Pitt, has games in Texas, Iowa State and Oklahoma State.  Home games versus Baylor, Oklahoma and Kansas State will likely be losses. And hosting Virginia Tech probably won't be a walk in the park either.

Speaking of Kansas State, the OVER 7 was seeing the second most action.  Americas Bookie has the Wildcats total set at 6.5.

Kansas State offensive assistant coaches Brian Anderson, Brian Lepak, Conor Riley and Thad Ward all spoke to the media following practice on Wednesday August 10, 2022.

Regaring fullback Jax Dineen:

"He's a little bit of a Swiss army knife," Brian Lepak said. "He can fit a lot of different roles there and he's got a little bit different skillset that he kind of thump a little bit more than some of the other guys can and he's got that experience carrying the football. So it brings a little something that can be kind of fun to leave them out there do some different things."

And the wide receivers continue to improve.

"Overall review of the receivers, we're getting better every day," Lepak added.  "It's exciting to watch the guys fly around. They want to improve every single day from top down. Kade Warner is teaching the young guys, being the leader of our group. Malik, Phil, those guys have really come in and set the example. And we're just getting better every single day. It was a good day today."

The backs should be solid this season with Deuce Vaughncoming off a 1,404-yard, 18-touchdown season.

QB Adrian Martinez threw for close to 8,500 yards and ran for over 2,300 with 35 scores in four years for Nebraska.

Gambling911.com sees a winnable base of games that include South Dakota, Missouri, Tulane, Texas Tech, at TCU, and Kansas.  One upset win, perhaps against Iowa State or West Virginia (Kansas State we have as a -2 road favorite early there based on last year's team power ratings), gets us the OVER 6.5.

Kansas State hasn't won a Big 12 Championship outright since 2003.

The Iowa State UNDER 7.5, Kansas OVER 2.5, Texas UNDER 8.5 round out the remaining top 5 totals futures bets in the Big 12.
