Texas vs Oklahoma State | College Football Week 8 Game Analysis & Picks October 22

No. 20 Texas continued to roll with a 24-21 victory over Iowa State in Week 7. Now Texas travels to take on No. 11 Oklahoma State, who is coming off their first loss of the season, a devastating 43-40 double overtime loss to TCU.

The college football odds make Texas a road favorite. We get a number of Longhorns 0.86 with the actual line at Texas -6.5 after opening at -4.  This indicates as much as a 6 point overlay.

Oklahoma State has mostly dominated this series, winning five of the last seven. One of those two losses went into overtime.

Texas has won three straight games and jumped two spots in the AP rankings despite their two losses.  Those were to Alabama (nearly beating them) and Texas Tech.  These wins have come by a combined four points.

Quinn Ewers passed for 172 yards and three touchdowns.  This included the game winner against Iowa State last weekend to Xavier Worthy.

Texas' Anthony Cook forced a late fumble with Iowa State at the Texas 28-yard line to ensure the victory. Jaylan Ford recovered the fumble after earlier intercepting a pass in the end zone.

"A year ago, I don't know if we win this game," Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday about the win over Iowa State. "I don't know if we were mature enough as a team, if we had the culture to persevere, to have the poise and composure in the face of adversity like we had."

"But in the end, we had to make plays at critical moments, and we weren't perfect, but we made some critical plays."

The home crowd helped Texas last week but they'll be in hostile territory heading to Oklahoma State.

Sarkisian hopes the Longhorns take the proper approach.

“I think poise and composure are really important on the road,” he said, “And when adversity strikes on the road, that doesn’t have to mean it’s adversity for the next quarter, it can be for that one play, and then you’ve got to have the ability to move on to the next.”
