Zynga Will Expand Real Money Online Poker Into Europe: Shares Surging

With the announcement that Zynga, the word’s largest social gaming market, will offer real money gambling in the United Kingdom, shares rose 5.5 percent to $3.24 in after-hours trade Tuesday.  By late morning Wednesday, shares were up 12.4 percent to $3.45 with an earlier high of $3.49.

Zynga Shares Surge on News of ZyngaPlusPoker Will Offer Real Money Play in UK

Zynga, the world’s largest social gaming company, announced Tuesday it will begin offering real money online gambling in the UK through its new website ZyngaPlusPoker.

Shares of Zynga, which closed 2.9% lower, rebounded 8% to $3.33 in after-hours trading following the news.

"We look forward to launching our social versions of real money games for players on Facebook and mobile in the UK throughout 2013," says Barry Cottle, chief revenue officer of Zynga, posted shortly after the announcement.

Churchill Downs to Buy Maine’s Oxford Casino

OXFORD, Maine (Associated Press) — Less than a year after it opened, Maine's Oxford Casino is being sold for about $160 million to Churchill Downs Inc., the Kentucky-based gambling company announced Friday.

The deal awaits approval by the Maine Gambling Control Board and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Internet Gambling, Casino Expansion a Tough Sell in Illinois: Quinn Skeptical

CHICAGO — (Associated Press) - Lawmakers pushing to expand gambling in Illinois hope the third time is a charm with a more finely tuned proposal that could make Illinois the fourth state to allow Internet gaming.

The latest proposal includes some familiar ideas: five new casinos, including one in Chicago and Rockford; thousands of slot machines, including at Chicago’s two airports. But it also includes Internet gambling, which would allow Illinois residents to play games like black jack on their computers or smart phones.

$338.3 million Powerball Ticket Purchased in New Jersey

PASSAIC, N.J. — No one has come forward yet in New Jersey to claim the winning Powerball ticket worth $338.3 million.

The owner of the liquor store where the ticket was sold says a couple of people have told the store they have the winner. But Sunil Sethi (SOO’-neel SET’-tee) of Eagle Liquors in Passaic, 15 miles northwest of New York City, says nothing has been confirmed.

888, Treasure Island Receive Nevada Online Gambling License

LONDON (Reuters) - 888 could launch an online gaming  offering in Nevada,  home to gambling center Las Vegas, as soon as May, a source said after the group won the first ever U.S. license to be awarded to an internet betting firm.

The license to operate in Nevada granted to London-listed 888 Holdings Plc  is the first time an internet gambling company has been licensed in the United States, which banned online gambling in 2006.

New Hampshire Kills One Gambling Bill

CONCORD, N.H. (Associated Press) — A week after a gambling bill passed the state Senate, the New Hampshire House killed one casino bill Thursday but kept another alive, leaving open the possibility of passing its own gambling measure.

14 Companies Apply for Delaware Online Gambling Licenses

While the state may have less than 1 million people, that hasn’t stopped over a dozen online gambling companies from filing licensing applications to run i-Gaming businesses out of Delaware.

Topping the list is PokerStars, which is looking to purchase a hotel and casino in nearby Atlantic City, New Jersey. 

Amaya Gaming, International Games Technology, SHFL Entertainment, Continent 8 Technologies, Stan James PLC, and 888 Holdings have each filed applications.

RCMP Carries Out More Raids, Arrests in Connection with Platinum SB

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of the RCMP Wednesday morning arrested two more individuals in connection with running what it deemed to be an organized crime-linked bookmaking operation that also has ties to the Hell’s Angels. 

Police arrested Michael Kriaris, 39, of Toronto, and Augustino Valenzisi, 43, of Vaughan. Both face charges related to engaging in bookmaking and committing an offence to benefit a criminal organization.

Broncos Player Quinton Carter Faces Felony in Alleged Casino Cheating

Denver Broncos safety Quinton Carter is facing felony charges after the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas accused him of adding a $5 chip to three bets after the dice already rolled.  Video surveillance apparently captured the event.

A Glimpse Into How Interstate Online Gambling Will Work

The Nevada Gaming Commission this week filed a “Request for Comment” as it relates to how “regulations concerning interstate agreements for interactive gaming” should work as the Silver State looks to begin offering online poker to those beyond its borders.

No More Internet Cafes in Florida Following Gambling Arrests: Senate OK

(Associated Press) - A Senate panel has cleared its version of a ban on the Florida gambling establishments commonly known as Internet cafes.

The Senate committee on gaming Monday voted 11-0 on the bill (SB 1030) that started as a moratorium and evolved into an outright ban.

The vote follows a House committee's clearing of its own bill banning internet cafes on Friday.

Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigned last week in the wake of an investigation into the Allied Veterans of the World charity that was suspected of running illegal gambling.
