Tiger Woods has long odds coming into this weekend's Players Championship...long odds for Tiger Woods that is: 3/1 at Sportsbetting.com (see website here).  Woods is in danger of losing his number one status to Phil Mickelson.  He was at 4/1 odds to win the Players Championship.

"I've had it happen before," Woods said about losing his top ranking briefly to both David Duval and Vijay SIngh. "The whole idea to be number one and continue to be number one is you have to win golf tournaments and I haven't done that in a while."

The Players Championship kicks off tomorrow Thursday May 6.

The Players Championship offers the highest prize fund of any tournament in golf ($8 million 2004-06, $9 million in 2007, $9.5 million in 2008), and is sometimes referred to as the "Fifth Major", but it does not have official major status.
