Thanksgiving Day Football Games Odds (2009)

Thanksgiving Day Football games odds for 2009 have been especially unstable.

The Packers vs. Lions game opened at Detroit +9 and was now at +11 nearly everywhere.  The missing piece of the puzzle is Matthew Stafford, and as a result, the line was late to post.  To make matters worse, Calvin Johnson was also listed as questionable coming into this one.

Stafford, who injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder one play prior to tossing a game-winning TD to beat Cleveland last Sunday, was not expected to play on Thanksgiving Day.

"He's still sore, but he's getting better. It's something we anticipated getting better,' Coach Jim Schwartz said on Tuesday.

Yet another unstable line:  The New York Giants vs. Denver Broncos.  This one opened at Giants -5 ½ and has since settled in between -6 to -7 depending on where you look.  Sportsbetting.com had this one at -6 ½.

The Oakland Raiders vs. Dallas Cowboys line was more stable, moving only a half point down from Dallas -14.  Around 75 percent of the books had the line at -13 ½ including Sportsbetting.com

The Packers were getting close to 90 percent of public backing while the other two games were practically even in terms of overall betting action.

Happy Thanksgiving Day and may your football games all be winners.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
