Rugby World Cup winner betting odds for 2011 were available at 888Sport.com.

New Zealand was the favorite to win at 8/11 odds, followed by Australia at 3/1.

New Zealand opened the Cup with a dismantling of Tonga (150/1 odds) on Friday.

“I think it’s early in the tournament,” New Zealand Coach Graham Henry said after the match. “There was a bit of tension. We’ve been waiting a long time for this and perhaps we weren’t as free as we normally are.”

“We scored some good tries and we got maximum points, defended well and had a good structure,” he added. “But we made too many mistakes and gave away too many penalties, so there’s a bit of work to be done.”

New Zealand ranks number one in the world.
