Paul The Octopus

To date, Paul the Octopus has only made predictions on major football matches.  His World Cup picks were perfect including a selection of Spain to win outright in Sunday's final.  So will Paul make his picks for the 2010 Open Championship this week?

Paul did veer off course a bit with a pick on a game that did not feature Germany.  All other picks prior to Sunday were games that featured the German side.

So the question remains:  Could Paul the Sea Soothsayer actually move to another sport?

The Open Championship is one of the most wagered on events in the United Kingdom.  Gamblers actually began making their picks based on Paul's prognostications in the end.

If Paul were to correctly choose a specific golfer to win out of the few dozen field, that would be an amazing feat.  But the Open Championship in many ways is nation focused much like the World Cup.

Online bookmaker Sportsbetting.com was offering odds on Top American and Top European

Paul had previously made his World Cup picks by choosing one of two boxes filled with a tasty morsel featuring the team flag.

How about a United States vs. Europe Open Championship selection coming into Thursday's kickoff of the tournament?

Should Paul pick the Americans, that could be everyone's cue to lay money on Tiger Woods (the current favorite to win).
