Of all the bookmakers, William Hill offered the best odds on the following contenders as of 9 July:

Rory McIlroy – 7 to 1.  Most competitors had Rory at 6/1 or 11/2.

Luke Donald was at 16 to 1 compared to 14 to 1 at about 80 percent of the books out there.

Odds on Martin Kaymer to win the Open Championship 2011 were at 22 to 1 at Will Hill.  This is compared to 20 to 1 elsewhere while Stan James listed Kaymer at 14 to 1.

Graeme McDowell was at 28 to 1.  Gambling911.com found odds as short as 20 to 1.

Nick Watney’s Open Championship 2011 odds to win were set at 35 to 1 as was Jason Day.  Both had odds as low as 25 to 1 at some bookmakers. 

Padraig Harrington, who won the Open Championship two consecutive years in 2007 and 2008, had the best odds at William Hill, 40 to 1.  We’ve seen as low as 28 to 1.

Steve Strickers odds of winning the Open Championship this year were also at 40 to 1, William Hill offering the best.
