Odds to Win the 2011 Players Championship

The odds to win the 2011 Players Championship have been posted at Bookmaker.com.  Note that these will be updated after each day and the morning hours prior to play so check back at Bookmaker.com regularly.

Phil Mickelson is once again the favorite at 11/1 or +11 odds while Tiger Woods comes in with his longest odds yet at 15/1 or +1500 despite a strong showing at the US Masters.  Injury concerns and his long term poor performance at the Players Championship certainly come into play with the oddsmakers.

Woods is listed with the same odds as Luke Donald.

This is a rare golf Majors tournament where not one player is listed in single digit odds.  Hence, the value – and potential payout – is huge for this year’s Players Championship.

Tim Clark of South Africa won last year’s Players Championship.  Clark has returned to defend his title but the oddsmakers at Bookmaker.com obviously don’t think much of his chances.  His odds to win the 2011 Players Championship were not even listed.  Instead, he is among those consisting of the “field” choice that unfortunately pays the least at 2/1 odds or +200.

Clark, like Woods, has had his fair share of injuries in recent months.

"It seems like ages ago that I did win the tournament,” Clark said.  “But excited to be back here. Defending is obviously something I'm not really used to. But at this point with the injuries I've had this year, I'm just really excited to be here. I feel like I'm going to be able to play, which two weeks ago I wasn't sure if that would be the case."

The purse is $9.5 million for this year’s Players Championship.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
