North Carolina Tar Heels

The North Carolina Tar Heels were the favorite to win the 2009 NCAA Championship but not all payouts were the same.  Gambling911.com has scoured the entire Net and - behold - we found the best payout odds for North Carolina to win the Championship game.

Sportsbook.com would pay $300 for every $100 bet.

Sports Interaction pays $300 for every $100 bet.

Bookmaker.com pays $350 for every $100 bet.

The winner though is - betED.com - paying $400 for every $100 bet should North Carolina win the 2009 NCAA Tournament.

And this is a great number since the Tar Heels are being singled out to win the championship game by most pundits.

Chris Dufresne of the LA Times writes:

"No one in Chapel Hill is going to chant "We're No. 3!" after the Tar Heels earned the third No. 1 seeding behind Louisville and Pittsburgh. Expectations were so high some people thought Roy Williams' team might go undefeated this year. That notion ended when, after a 13-0 start, the Tar Heels lost their first two conference games. They rallied to win the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season title before falling to Florida State in a tournament semifinal."

But North Carolina is in trouble early on due to the Ty Lawson injury.

Heels head coach Roy Williams was unsure if Lawson would play the tournament opener on Thursday.

Williams said the toe is not completely healthy and he doesn't know if it will ever be completely healthy for the tournament.

"He has to practice half the practice Tuesday and all of practice Wednesday or I'm not going to play him on Thursday."

North Carolina was a -27 ½ favorite to beat Rathford on Thursday at betED.com.
