Ron's Straight Up Record: 23 wins 16 losses for (59%)

*Note: Ron went 6-0 on Tuesday and his Private Players Pick was LA Kings PK +130!

Buffalo vs. NY Rangers

Ron's Comment: One of the toughest games on the board to handicap, as you have the New York Rangers on a 5 game winning streak and the Sabres looked impressive vs. the Islanders and even moreso against the Habs last Friday. Lundqvist is 5-2 (SU) vs. the Sabres and New York has won 4 of the last 5 head to head meetings at MSG. Furthermore, when you look at the history between these 2 teams at games played in New York; 6 out of 7 games have been decided by 1 goal. Early money has been coming in on the Rangers and I tend to agree with the public on this one.

Prediction: NY Rangers 3 Buffalo 2

Boston vs. Montreal

Ron's Comment: Should be a great night in Montreal this evening, as it's opening night and TSN is broadcasting this game from coast to coast. My sources are indicating Tim Thomas will be getting the nod this evening for the Bruins and he's 4-12 (SU) in regular season games vs. the Canadiens and Montreal has won 13 out of the last 15 meetings in games played in Montreal. The Bruins are going on 3 days rest and sometimes this doesn't fit well with players, as they tend to be too energetic in the first period and this could lead to more penalties. Furthermore, when you haven't played in a few days, you normally come out rusty and timing could be an issue. Carey Price is expected to be in nets for Montreal tonight and he's 5-0 SU in regular season games against Montreal.

Prediction: Montreal 4 Boston 1

Nashville vs. Dallas

Ron's Comment: The Dallas Stars are too good of a hockey team to go 0-3 (SU) on the season and they've own the Predators in Dallas the last few years, as Dallas is 12-3 (SU) vs. Nashville at home. Marty Turco and Dan Ellis are expected to be in nets for their respective teams this evening and the UNDER is 3-0-1 the last 4 games when these teams meet at the American Airlines Centre. It's been reported that Jason Arnott has a fractured finger and will miss anywhere from 7 to 10 days. Here's a nice 80% pattern favoring the Dallas Stars tonight. When the Stars are a home team before a non-division game, the total is 5.0 and they scored 1 "Goal For" in their last game; The Stars are 16-4-3 SU since '96.

Prediction: Dallas 3 Nashville 2

Phoenix vs. Chicago

Ron's Comment: Probably one of the most exciting games on the board tonight, as you have great young talent on both teams and the home team is staving for a win! Phoenix is 2-0 on the season, but they faced a tired Columbus team and beat a slow Ducks team. This will no doubt be a great test for the Coyotes tonight and look for Khabibulin to get the nod between the pipes tonight vs. the Yotes. Don't be surprised with all this talent on the ice if we witness a low scoring game; as the UNDER is 10-3-1 between these two teams when they meet in Chicago since '99. Here's an NHL system favoring the UNDER in tonight's game between the Coyotes and Hawks. Whenever you have a road underdog vs. a central opponent the last 5 years, before a non division game, coming off a 2 goal win, allowed 2 or less goals AGAINST in their last game and they are coming off a Road win as an underdog; The UNDER is 12-4-4 for the Road Underdog (PHX) in this role L5Y.

Prediction: Chicago 3 Phoenix 2

Edmonton vs. Anaheim

Ron's Comment: Not only did we say the Ducks looked like an old and sluggish team in our last repot on Tuesday, but the last thing a team like this wants to do is play 3 games in 4 nights. The Ducks looked awful again last night in their 6-3 lost to the Kings and they took too many "aggressive" penalties out of frustration because they lack speed and consistent offensive power at the forward position. Now, Anaheim must face an Oilers team who's won 11 of the last 15 games in their own building and are well rested. It's one thing to be 11-4 SU vs. a team, but when that team is beating you in your own barn, that's a major problem. Garon is scheduled to get the start and look for Hillier to get the nod for the Ducks. If there's a look a head spot for either team, it could be a weakness point for the Oilers, as they have their division and provincial rival on Deck in a head to head back to back game situation on Friday and Saturday.

Prediction: Edmonton 4 Anaheim 2

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
