A battle of division leaders is on tap for Tuesday night in New York as the Rangers host the Washington Capitals.  The Capitals have turned on the jets of late due in large part to the play of Alex Ovechkin.  The reigning league MVP has 18 goals and 17 assists in the past 21 games.  He has seven goals and six assists in 13 meetings with New York.

The Capitals had their win streak snapped on Saturday in a bad loss to Philadelphia, losing 7-1.  Goaltender Brent Johnson was pulled on Saturday in favor of Jose Theodore but Johnson will get the start versus the Rangers who he is 2-0-0 with a 1.88 goals-against average against. "We're waiting for one to come and say, 'Hey listen, I'm the guy. Go to me all the time,'" Washington coach Bruce Boudreau said. "That only comes with the way you play."  Washington will be without Alexander Semin on Tuesday who was injured last Thursday and they will be missing defenseman Mike Green.

New York is coming off a tough 3-2 loss on Saturday to San Jose but they played well in the loss. "It was a tough way to finish the trip," defenseman Wade Redden said. "We'll get back and have one (home game) before Christmas, and we'll try to make it a good one."
