SBG Global Opening Line: Flyers  -  155  ,  Total  5.5 Under - 140

Minnesota goaltender Niklas Backstrom was just named to the All-Star team and he has looked like a great choice, shutting out Colorado and Boston in the Wild's last two games.  The 1-0 win by the Wild at Boston was a major victory as the Bruins are the best team in the Eastern Conference. "I think our whole team rose to the challenge," said Backstrom. Minnesota has now won six straight games against Eastern Conference teams and they are 10-1-1 against the East this season.  The Wild has lost their last three games against the Flyers though and Backstrom lost his only career start against Philadelphia a year ago by a score of 3-1. SBG Global reports that early Hockey betting has the public taking  Flyers at Home.

Philadelphia is happy to finally be playing at home.  Philadelphia just completed a six-game road trip with the last three games ending in shootouts.  The last two were losses at Los Angeles and at Washington.

"We talked to the team about it and we all agreed that they were feeling sluggish," Flyers coach John Stevens said, "We've had some guys injured and some of our veteran guys have stepped up and played great."  Winger Simon Gagne returned from injury on Tuesday but he has still not regained his previous form.

The Flyers have won six straight games at home overall, scoring 34 goals. They are 10-0-2 in their last 12 home games.

Here are the Hockey betting stats for Thursday's game.  The Wild are 6-0 in their last 6 vs. the Eastern Conference. The Wild are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. the Atlantic. The Wild are 2-6 in their last 8 road games. The Wild are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Philadelphia.

The Flyers are 6-0 in their last 6 home games. The Flyers are 5-1 in their last 6 games playing on 1 day of rest. The Flyers are 1-4 in their last 5 Thursday games. The home team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings between the two teams.

The Under is 4-0-1 in Minnesota's last 5 Thursday games. The Under is 10-3 in Minnesota's last 13 road games. The Under is 20-7-4 in Minnesota's last 31 overall.
