Suns vs. Spurs

The Phoenix Suns begin the 2008-2009 season in the same place that last season ended, at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. The Spurs eliminated the Suns in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs last season four games to one. SBG Global reports that early NBA betting has the public taking Spurs at home.

Last year the Suns won the regular season series 2-1 with both of those wins coming in San Antonio. They will try and win three in a row at San Antonio for the first time ever. Last season was the first time since 2002-03 that the Suns won a season series against the Spurs. Overall, the Spurs have won 15 of the last 23 meetings between the two teams. The Spurs are 44-23 all-time at home against Phoenix. Over the past ten seasons, the Spurs have been very good at home. Since the 1998-1999 season the Spurs have a home-winning percentage of .880. What could hurt San Antonio in this game is the absence of Manu Ginobili who is still recovering from off-season ankle surgery. Many people are discounting the Spurs this season but they might be playing with a chip on their shoulder just to prove everyone wrong.

"Everyone is going to have opinions about us," forward Bruce Bowen said, "The most important thing for us to understand is, the season is a process. You really don't realize how fortunate you have to be even to get an opportunity to play for a championship."

Wednesday's game marks the regular season debut of Terry Porter as Phoenix head coach. The Suns are 21-19 all-time on opening night. Here are more NBA betting stats for Wednesday's game. The Suns are 13-6-2 ATS in their last 21 vs. the Western Conference. The Suns are 7-19-3 ATS in their last 29 Wednesday games. The underdog is 6-2-1 ATS in the last 9 meetings between the two teams.

The Spurs are 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games. The Spurs are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 Wednesday games

SBG Global Current Line: Spurs - 2.5 , Total 187.5

The Over is 8-3 in the Suns last 11 Wednesday games. The Under is 7-0 in the Spurs last 7 vs. the Pacific. The Under is 8-0 in the Spurs last 8 overall.

The Under is 8-0 in the Spurs last 8 vs. the Western Conference. The Under is 4-1 in the Spurs last 5 home games. The Under is 8-3 in the Spurs last 11 Wednesday games.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
