Top Contenders
When it comes to road course racing you have to always consider the road course ringers who are brought in only for road courses. One of those drivers who should contend is Alex Tagliani. He will be driving twice in the Nationwide Series this season as he will also race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August. Tagliani has a lot of experience at Road America as he has completed 1,328 miles on the 4.05-mile road course.
Tagliani has led 39 laps and had three podium finishes. “I am pretty excited to be going back to Road America.” Tagliani said, “It is a place that I like and have great memories from my first win in Champ Car driving for Ford in 2004. I am very excited to have this opportunity with Penske and can’t to get in the car and start driving. I hope to continue the long tradition of winning in the 22 car.”
The other two top contenders are Regan Smith and Elliott Sadler. Both drivers are fighting for the point’s lead in the Nationwide Series. Sadler has just one top five finish at Road America. “I really like racing at Road America.” Sadler said, “I enjoy the opportunity to get away from the same oval racing each weekend and challenge myself on a road course.”
