May 5 Date for Pacquiao-Mayweather Fight

There is doubt as to whether a tentatively scheduled May 5 Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will actually go off, but online sports betting outfit Sportsbook.com is already taking bets.

Gambling911.com’s own Carrie Stroup announced odds being offered by the nearly 15 year old online betting company Thursday: Sportsbook.com Line: Mayweather -160/Pacquiao +130 - Over/Under for Rounds: 10.5 over -145.

Ms. Stroup wrote:  “At long last, it finally appears that the two best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet, unbeaten Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, will go toe-to-toe in the ring. This fight could happen as soon as May 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, but details still have to be ironed out.”

And she called the pending fight “epic”.  From a wagering standpoint, the online betting companies and Las Vegas bookmakers expect a windfall should this fight actually go off.

Don’t count on the May 5 date just yet.  Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz said late May was the more likely option in order that a temporary outdoor stadium could be constructed to maximize revenue from the showdown. Pacquiao's business manager Eric Pineda, on the other hand, told CNN that the fight might not take place until November.

"It's not going to be in May," Pineda said on Thursday. "As far we know, he (Mayweather) has a jail term to serve. With a November date, he can still do a lot of training in jail."

That said, it may no longer be a question of IF, but rather WHEN and you can place your bets now.  The online betting shops like Sportsbook.com have had to refund bets on this fight in the past after it was determined the originally scheduled fight would not take place.
