If not for Tiger Woods impressive showing last month, Masters 2012 betting odds would most certainly have Rory McIlroy of Ireland as the odds-on favorite to win.  Both Woods and McIlroy have pretty decent value at 7/2 and 5/1 odds, respectively, at Sportsbook.com.  This is likely to be one of the most wagered on Masters ever.

McIlroy has risen to 2nd place among the rankings for best golfers after his decision to dump manager Chubby Chandler last October.  Last year, McIlroy suffered a 4-lead meltdown in the final round of the Masters.

ESPN Magazine dared asked the question:  “What will Rory McIlroy be thinking when he steps up to the 10th hole this April?”

Hopefully, he won’t be thinking about what transpired last year.

In the meantime, McIlroy is receiving accolades from his fellow golfers.

''I really put Rory as high as favourite going into Augusta this year, no question about it,'' Greg Norman said.

''He is putting beautifully; his short game is great; he has the perfect ball flight for Augusta National and now he has to manage his expectations.

''Every top player has been there. I don't care who you name, whether it's Arnold Palmer or myself or Steve Ballesteros or Tom Watson, we have all experienced a bit of a meltdown. It's how you react to it.''
