Tiger Woods pulls out of Players Championship

Tiger Woods has pulled out of the 2011 Players Championship citing knee and Achilles problems.

"I'm having a hard time walking," Woods said after his half-round. He hit only one green in regulation and made no birdies.

This is the second straight year the pro golfer has had to withdraw from the coveted Players Championship.

"The knee acted up and then the Achilles followed after that and then the calf started cramping up," Woods said. "Everything started getting tight, so it's just a whole chain reaction."

Woods has had four operations in that knee.

He was listed with 15-1 odds of winning the 2011 Players Championship at Bookmaker.com

The purse is $9.5 million for this year’s Players Championship.
