England v. France Betting

England v. France betting had England a nearly 1/2 favorite to beat France Wednesday and the French promising a payout of €14.50 for every €10 bet with a win at Bookmaker.com (see this game listed under SOCCER and INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLIES).

As bad as England played in the summer’s World Cup, the French were considered the biggest disappointment.  Not much has changed over these last few months it seems though there are reasons to be hopeful.

"We have had great sides before, now we have a very good group of players, some in foreign leagues, some in England,” France coach Laurent Blanc said.  “I want to develop a hard centre and for them to learn another facet to their game as well as what they have in the French league.

"The game against England was already in the calendar before I was manager. Always playing against top sides, we~re also playing Brazil in February. We are still in the process of rebuilding but it~s a chance to take some positive pointers from the game."

His most discussed quote centers on a statement that France no longer has any great players.

"For the moment we don't have any great players in our national team," Blanc said in an interview with The Associated Press. "What's for certain is that we haven't got there yet, we're not ready."

As for England, they beat both Bulgaria and Switzerland but lost more recently to Bulgaria.  Once again England coach Fabio Capello’s head is on the chopping block.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
