Carrie Stroup here with your College Football Week 8 rankings (2008), which also takes a look at the odds for those teams ranked in the top 10 to win the 2009 BCS Championship.

1. Texas - After beating number one ranked Oklahoma this past weekend, the 6-0 Longhorns are the newly ranked number one College Football team. Last week you could bet $100 to win $1200 if Texas wins the 2009 BCS Championship. Sportsbook.com now had the odds set at +600 for a $600 payout potential with every $100 bet. That is still a substantial value and we believe this line will be slashed further next week, so lock these odds in now!

2. Alabama - Pays $500 for every $100 bet. The Crimson Tide is 6-0.

3. Penn State is 7-0 and maybe should be ranked number one. The odds makers indeed find that Penn State is the better team compared to Texas and Alabama with odds of +350 to win the 2009 BCS title at Sportsbook.com. That would pay $350 for every $100 bet. Last week, odds were promising a $1200 payout for every $100 bet. These odds probably won't be shortened much further in the near future anyway.

4. Florida - They embarrassed LSU this past weekend and embarrassed us here at Gambling911.com in the process. We had LSU as being able to cover based on past stats and this suggests to us that Florida is vastly improved and it's no wonder odds makers have this team at +600 odds to win the 2009 BCS. Expect these odds to be slashed further next week so we suggest locking the +600 odds in now.

5. Oklahoma - The Sooners drop from the number one spot after being beaten by Texas. Best payout odds yet - A $100 bet pays $1200 if they win the BCS title. Lock these odds in now Sooners fans!

6. USC - The odds makers aren't as reactive just because of a loss. They would pay $180 for every $100 bet if USC were to win the BCS Championship. Not great value when we consider the talent among this top 10, but there are those who believe the Trojans stand a better chance of going all the way.

7. Texas Tech - Pays $1000 for every $100 bet if they were to win the title.

8. Bringham Young - Sportsbook.com doesn't offer odds specifically for BYU, which gives us some idea what a surprise this team is. Instead, you can bet them as part of the +2500 "field" category which essentially includes "all those other teams".

9. Georgia - Pays $2000 for every $100 bet if they win the 2009 BCS Championship.

10. Oklahoma State - Pays $1200 for every $100 bet if they win the BCS.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
