Where was all the betting action going Thursday night? The Calgary Flames - with long shot odds of +2000 to win the 2009 Stanley Cup for a payout of $2000 on every $100 bet at Sports Interaction.

AOL Fan House had this to say about the Flames hopes in 2008/2009:

"Jimmy McSweeney wins record breaking Ladbrokes.com Irish Poker FeOutside of Ovechkin and Evgeni Malkin, Jarome Iginla had a tremendous (and underappreciated) season in Alberta, and he could be able to help the Flames replicate their Stanley Cup finals run of 2004 if the team can survive the brutally tough Western Conference."

They ranked Calgary at number 10.

The Flames could be a surprise if goalie Miikka Kiprusoff returns to previous form, according to Milenko Martinovich of the Macon Telegraph.

Calgary opened the season at +115 odds verses Vancouver Thursday night.
