Alabama Crimson Tide

Ranked number one in the nation, the undefeated Alabama Crimson Tide have a better chance to play in and win the 2009 BCS Championship game than just about any other team in College Football.  Alabama's odds to win the 2009 BCS Championship title were listed at +250 following this past weekend's win.  That would result in a payout of $250 for every $100 bet at Sportsbook.com.

Throughout this week, Gambling911.com will be looking at some of the top ranked college football teams and their odds to win the BCS.

At +250 odds, Alabama still has some nice value.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide (10-0, 6-0 SEC West) had its first real test of the season and survived, taking a 27-21 victory over No. 15 LSU (6-3, 3-3 SEC West) in overtime.

The win clinched the Southeastern Conference Western Division championship for the Tide, putting Alabama in the SEC championship game against Florida in Atlanta next month.

The victory was the first for Alabama over LSU since the 2002 season, when Saban was coaching at LSU. But unlike previous games in which Alabama got big leads and played keep-away, this time the Tide had its hands full right down to the end.

Nothing is etched in stone for the Crimson Tide however.  There are two Alabama players injured heading into this weekend's game against Mississippi State.

Coach Nick Saban said Monday that tailback Roy Upchurch and receiver Earl Alexander are both questionable. Upchurch missed the LSU game with a neck injury, and Alexander hurt his shoulder in the game.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide has lost two straight games against the Bulldogs.

Saban said what happened the past two years won't have an impact on this game.

But he said Tide players respect Mississippi State.

Iowa State: Are They The Underdogs To Look For In March Madness?

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
