Why Bet the Spurs-Grizzlies Game – March 28

There are a few good reasons to bet Monday night’s Spurs-Grizzlies game but be forewarned, San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich is notorious for resting players during the later part of the season and indeed has been employing this strategy now that the Spurs have secured the number two spot in the West.

Popovich does understand he can’t be resting his players in all nine of the remaining games as they will need to stay sharp both physically and mentally.

“You try to do your best,” Popovich said before Friday night’s game against Memphis. “You don’t want to de-condition them, and you don’t want to lose rhythm. But you want to rest. So you try not to lose rhythm and you try not to de-condition them.”

That game was won in San Antonio 110-104.

The Spurs (61-12) will be short-handed for the second consecutive game against the Grizzlies (41-32), this one in Memphis Monday night.

Memphis has won just two of the last ten games in this series with only one of those losses covering the current spread of +6.   They have failed to cover any of the three games played this season by more than that number (the last game being a push using the current spread).

Three of the last four games played in Memphis have been won or lost by six or fewer points (including a two-point loss in overtime), making the Grizzlies a solid play for Monday night.
