Our free picks are based on a proven theory:  The house always wins.  They may not win every battle but they will win in the long run.  As such, we’ll be going against the public in more high profile games or those seeing the most lopsided action in their respective sport.

And today we are on Virginia Tech as a +12.5 underdog hosting the red hot Orange.

75 percent of the betting public is backing Syracuse here and this is the most wagered on side Tuesday (8 of the top 10 bets were on the upcoming weekend’s NFL Playoff games).

Already we know this games is shaded slightly as the line should be Syracuse -10 with the Orange having a power rating around 88 and Virginia Tech having a power rating of around 78 with home court advantage.  Based on schedule difficulty the number could actually be reduced further.

Last year, Syracuse, as a -10 road favorite, beat Virginia Tech by 11 points.

The Hokies are 6-2 Against The Spread in their last 8 home games.

We say a win by Syracuse but Virginia Tech will get by with a cover.

Result was a losing pick as VTech failed to cover, losing by 20 points.
