Current line:  Seattle -2.5   / Over & Under at 44 ½

Time: Sunday September, 15 - 8:30 pm (EST) NBC

Summary:

In what may seem like a match up that will have playoff contention written all over it, the San Francisco 49ers are going to the Pacific Northwest to try and topple a fairly well rounded Seattle Seahawks team. With Pete Carroll at the helm, the Seahawks are one of the stronger teams that the 49ers are going to have to try and route, and what may be the deciding factor isn’t even a matter of the players involved, it’s the dreaded twelfth man.

The Seattle team has been the target of investigation, and complains from just about every major team that has played at their home turf, and that’s because the fans are in fact one of the loudest in the nation, and penalties run high when visitors show up and get seriously turned around. The strength of the rivalry, however, goes beyond the decibel levels, as the two teams have gone back and forth in the past, and this Sunday night will be no different.

At first glance, the 49ers will have a good amount of momentum on their side after a knockout win over the Packers that had some serious contention. The two teams battled in one of the harder hitting games in the first week of the NFL season, and this one could prove to be another hard hitting affair, especially if any late hit comes to Colin Kaepernick, whom critics still say hasn’t taken serious hits, and rightfully so, the Niners defense is strong, and you’re not going to hit him without some serious work.

The Seahawks didn’t look like a championship team when they narrowly escaped the clutches of the Carolina Panthers, but it was enough to get the W and that’s important. Russell Wilson will have to perform at his best, Colin Kaepernick has to show up and possibly take some hits, and after all is said and done, it’s a toss-up which way the game could end up.

The Match Up

Two good quarterbacks, two defenses that have some serious chops, and the crowd that will not shut up, all make for one hell of a game to watch. Pete Carroll wasn’t happy with his team after the win they had, the 49ers fought hard against The Packers that wouldn’t shut up in the press, and well these two teams are going to have their work cut out for them. The match up should be even, but the San Francisco team has such a hard-nosed defensive line and the depth to match, that the offensive line of Seattle is going to have to step up or get steam rolled and cast aside.

The Edge

Our Pick is Seattle -2.5
